13, ABR, 2018

Scientists from the University of Zurich recommend consuming 300 to 600 grams of red meat per week as it’s an important source of minerals and vitamins. Here 5 arguments for which the consumption of meat is very beneficial for our health:

1. It contains iron. This mineral allows the body to produce hemoglobin and myoglobin. These are essential proteins to supply oxygen to the cells. This nutriment is obtained through lean beef, or other meats such as turkey.

2. Increase muscle mass. Meat contains high-quality proteins, such as creatine, essential for muscle gain, while zinc helps repair it.

3. Provides essential proteins. Meat is an excellent source of protein that provides the nine amino acids that the body needs and does not produce naturally.

4. It benefits bone health. The consumption of proteins, especially of animal origin, is associated with an increase in bone density, lower risk of fractures in postmenopausal women, as well as it’s perfect to prevent osteoporosis.

5. It has vitamin B12. This nutrient helps the body to avoid problems such as anemia, as well as it helps the optimal functioning of the nervous system.
